I develop and produce content for print and the web, coaching writers to combine old-school editorial rigor with new media tools. Currently I manage print and online publications for SPUR, a public policy group that works on urban planning issues in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I’ve written for Metropolis, Time Out New York, the New York Times, the London Guardian and others. My book Crystal Cove Cottages, a profile of a historic community in Southern California, was a Los Angeles Times bestseller. I’ve been an editor at CBS Interactive, Metropolis magazine, Pulitzer-winning newspaper Willamette Week and literary magazine Swink. I’ve also taught writing at Pratt Institute and the New School University and performed my work at the Moth urban storytelling series.
